Getting started
New Patients & Appointments
Yes. Union Family Dental welcomes new patients. Call our office or request an appointment online.
We are located at 2333 Morris Avenue, Suite A111, Union, NJ 07083.
Bring a valid photo ID, your current dental insurance card, policyholder information, a current medication list, relevant medical information, recent dental records or X-rays if available, and any questions you want to discuss.
A cleaning may be completed when clinically appropriate. Your needs must first be evaluated. If gum disease or another condition requires different care, we will explain the recommended next step.
Yes. We are happy to note your provider preference when scheduling. Availability depends on the provider’s schedule and the treatment you need.
Call us as soon as possible. Depending on your arrival time and scheduled treatment, we may need to modify or reschedule the appointment.
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice when canceling or rescheduling. Appointments canceled with insufficient notice or missed without notice may be subject to a $100 cancellation or no-show fee.
Benefits and claims
Insurance & Billing
We work with many insurance companies and networks. Participation can vary by specific plan, network, employer group, and treating provider. Use our insurance lookup or contact us with your complete plan information.
No. Union Family Dental does not currently accept Medicaid.
An in-network provider participates with the applicable network and generally uses its contracted fee schedule. Deductibles, coinsurance, annual maximums, limitations, and exclusions may still apply.
Out-of-network does not automatically mean you have no coverage. Many PPO plans provide OON benefits, although allowed amounts, deductibles, reimbursement, and patient responsibility may differ.
Yes. Insurance companies offer multiple networks and plan designs. We verify the specific plan rather than relying only on the company name.
No. Verification and estimates use information available at that time. Your carrier makes the final determination when processing the claim.
“Covered” does not mean covered at 100%. Deductibles, coinsurance, annual maximums, allowed amounts, downgrades, and frequency limitations may apply.
We can provide our best estimate, but only your insurance carrier can make the final benefit determination after processing the claim.
Yes. Provide information for both plans before treatment. The carriers determine which plan is primary and how the secondary plan coordinates benefits.
Not necessarily. Secondary insurance processes eligible remaining charges according to its own coordination rules, limitations, exclusions, and maximums.
Sometimes. An appropriate diagnosis or medical necessity may allow certain claims to be submitted. Medical coverage and payment are determined by your carrier.
Some dental plans require medical insurance to consider a procedure before completing the dental claim. This does not necessarily mean medical insurance will pay.
Certain Medicare Advantage plans include dental benefits that may participate with Union Family Dental. Provide complete plan information so we can verify the specific dental network and benefits.
Costs and options
Payments & Financing
We accept applicable insurance benefits and offer options for uninsured patients or remaining out-of-pocket treatment costs. Our team can review your estimated responsibility before treatment.
Yes. Cherry financing allows eligible patients to divide treatment costs into monthly payments. Approval, terms, APR, and promotions are determined by Cherry.
Cherry uses a soft credit check when determining eligibility, which does not impact your credit score. Approval and terms are determined by Cherry.
You can still receive care. We offer self-pay options, financing for eligible patients, and an in-house Dental Membership Plan.
No. It is a direct arrangement between you and Union Family Dental, not dental insurance. Ask for current fees, included services, savings, limitations, and enrollment terms.
The plan is primarily designed for patients without traditional dental insurance. Ask our team about current terms and restrictions before enrolling.
Your oral health
Dental Care & Treatment
Many patients benefit from care approximately every six months. Your schedule may differ based on gum health, cavity risk, medical history, previous treatment, and individual needs.
A routine cleaning removes plaque and tartar around and above the gumline. Scaling and root planing treats gum disease below the gumline and along tooth roots.
Yes. We provide family dental care, including children’s dentistry. Our team can schedule an appropriate visit based on your child’s age and needs.
Yes. An evaluation and appropriate imaging are needed to determine whether implants are suitable and what related treatment may be required.
Yes. We provide traditional braces and clear aligner treatment. An orthodontic evaluation determines the appropriate option for your smile and bite.
Yes. Recommendations depend on your teeth, gums, bite, existing restorations, and individual smile goals.
Yes. We offer Philips Zoom in-office whitening and custom take-home whitening. A dental evaluation is required first.
No. Whitening lightens natural tooth structure. Existing crowns, veneers, bridges, and tooth-colored fillings do not whiten in the same way.
For appropriate patients, Botox may temporarily reduce activity in overactive jaw and facial muscles. An evaluation is required.
Not always. An accurate plan may require an examination, imaging, diagnosis, and insurance verification so the estimate reflects the care you actually need.
Procedures and healing
Oral Surgery & Recovery
Yes. We provide certain extractions and surgical procedures when clinically appropriate. An examination and imaging are generally necessary.
We evaluate wisdom teeth. Whether treatment can be completed in our office depends on tooth position, complexity, medical history, and imaging.
It depends on the procedure and medications used. Follow the instructions from your dental team and arrange an adult escort when required.
Soft foods are generally recommended immediately afterward. Follow your procedure-specific instructions regarding diet, straws, rinsing, brushing, smoking, and activity.
Some swelling and discomfort may be expected. Contact us if symptoms are severe, progressively worsen, or concern you.
Dry socket may occur when the protective clot is lost or disrupted before normal healing progresses. It can cause significant pain and requires evaluation.
Call for uncontrolled or worsening pain, significant or persistent bleeding, increasing swelling, signs of infection, or another unexpected change. For difficulty breathing or swallowing, call 911 or seek emergency medical care.
Urgent concerns
Dental Emergencies
Yes. Call as soon as possible for significant pain, swelling, a broken tooth, dental trauma, or another urgent problem. Same-day care may be available when scheduling permits.
Contact a dentist immediately. Handle the tooth by the crown rather than the root and keep it moist while seeking urgent care.
Call us so we can determine how urgently you should be evaluated. Avoid chewing on the affected area until it can be examined.
It can be. Dental swelling may indicate infection and should be evaluated promptly. If it is rapidly progressing or affects breathing or swallowing, call 911 or seek emergency medical care.
